Registration open: EASP meeting on immersive technologies in intergroup relations research

Registration is now open for the EASP small group meeting “Immersive Technologies as Methodological and Theoretical Tools for Advancing Intergroup Relations Research”, taking place on 11-12 March 2027 at the University of Helsinki, Finland. The registration deadline is 1 November 2026.
Immersive technologies such as virtual (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are rapidly transforming the methodological landscape of social psychological research. In the field of intergroup relations, they offer new possibilities to simulate realistic social encounters, manipulate contextual features with precision, and examine embodied and behavioural responses to intergroup dynamics. At the same time, their use raises important conceptual, methodological and ethical questions that require collective reflection.
Rather than focusing on the presentation of completed work, the meeting is designed as an intensive, hands-on, collaborative workshop: participants will jointly address theoretical challenges, refine research designs, improve measurement strategies, and discuss ethical and practical considerations in immersive intergroup research. The meeting is open both to researchers already working with immersive methods and to those interested in adopting these approaches in their own intergroup research.
Registration is open to both EASP members and non-members. Full details are on the meeting website.
Organising committee: Matilde Tassinari and Viivi Mäkinen (University of Helsinki), Göksu Celikkol (Åbo Akademi University) and Prof. Inga Jasinskaja-Lahti (University of Helsinki).
